"Rock Lake"- this work depicts a Christmas memory of walking along a frozen lake in Connecticut at night with the sound of snow falling and the light from nearby windows illuminating the snow. In 1977, I had just turned 18.was in the Navy stationed in Groton, Connecticut. Having grown up on the Mississippi Coast, I had never experienced living through 4 fully distinguishable seasons. My Christmas memory is of me and a friend walking back from dinner to our dorm. It was about a week before Christmas, my first time away from home for the holidays. Part of our path was between Rock Lake and a dorm building, while walking it began to lightly snow, so quiet you could hear the snow hit the already deep blanket of snow. The dorm windows were wood frame and 10 feet high. the light from them made the snow sparkle adding the serenity of our walk. This moment, cherished all my life, is presented here for everyone to enjoy and possibly remember the precious moments of your life as well.
