My name is Tom Kensler.
I am thrilled to have Art Storefronts help me share my sculptures and printed artwork. My intention for T.K. MANSIONS is to offer unique and timeless brick and stone artwork to enhance someones home or garden. Starting with Lego blocks, as a kid, I always had an interest in making things with small bricks. When I was older, my dad and I built a barn for our horses using concrete block. By then I knew I wanted to be an architect.Growing up on the Mississippi coast, I graduated from high school in 1977, then served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, then onto college in 1982 at Mississippi State, School of Architecture and graduated in 1987. As an architect, I moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 1991. Over the years, I have worked on various types of projects which include: hospitals, retail centers, hotels, high end residential and entertainment venues, mostly notably, Harry Potter at Universal studios. The 2008 recession had a severe impact on the design and construction industry. I had to change professions choose another career. So at 49, I started nursing school, became and LPN in 2010, and continued my education becoming an RN in 2014. Throughout these life and career changing events, I maintained my hobby of making small scale architectural sculptures out off cut brick and small stones. The formal pieces are constructed with dimensioned 1/2”=1’0” brick and precisely placed, while the abstract pieces are constructed of irregularly shaped bricks and assembled in a free form, impressionistic manner. Being one of a kind, each piece will personalize the home or garden in their unique way. I look forward to creating new pieces to share with others to make their world a better place.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
